Teens painting a large winged heart together.

Teen Programming

I love that I can be a part of this group, with amazing people working hard for good causes.

Amplifying Voices

Art provides a platform for teens to express their thoughts, experiences, and emotions. Through visual arts, poetry, or music, they can share their stories and ignite conversations surrounding mental health and social issues that matter to them.

Empowering Advocacy

Art serves as a powerful tool to raise awareness about mental health challenges and foster empathy. By creating thought-provoking pieces, teens can inspire others to join the movement, shatter stigma, and promote acceptance and understanding.

Enhancing Curriculum

Life on Earth Art programming addresses a wide range of California state curriculum requirements including Visual Arts standards and Social Emotional Learning Competencies. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of high school students both in and outside of the classroom.

Sparking Conversations

Art has the remarkable ability to ignite conversations and challenge societal norms. Teens can use their creations to address pressing issues, such as mental health disparities, social inequalities, or climate change, inspiring dialogue and driving real change within their communities.

Creating Connections

Art connects teens from diverse backgrounds, fostering a sense of unity and shared purpose. By collaborating on artistic projects, they can build networks, cultivate empathy, and create a supportive community that uplifts mental well-being and advocates for social justice.

Facilitating Personal Healing

Engaging in art offers a therapeutic outlet for teens to process their emotions, heal from traumas, and find solace. Through creating together, they can navigate their struggles and transform pain into resilience, promoting their own well-being and inspiring others on their journey.

Research-based Curriculum

In fall of 2022, Life on Earth Art partnered with Dominican University of California to develop an art therapy informed workshop series. The six-session series, titled “Heart Space,” was co-created by Life on Earth Art and Dominican’s cohort of Doctoral Art Therapy candidates. This group of practicing therapists explored the ways in which the process of paper maché heart making and collaborative art installation can foster a sense of unification and healing. In addition to curriculum development, the team conducted an academic research study at Ridgway High School in Santa Rosa, assessing the impact of this work on student’s feelings of belonging, self-compassion, and shared community.
